In May 2025, the Friends of the Brentwood Library announced the largest single donation in its 48 years of service: a one-time gift of $200,000 to the John P. Holt Brentwood Library. This significant contribution underscores the Friends’ resolute commitment to enhancing the library and supporting the Brentwood community. 

Fully $150,000 of that contribution will directly fund a renovation for the library’s teen space and $50,000 funded a significant design renovation for the Friends Gathering Room, a centerpiece for library patrons and groups.

Another $57,000 in funding was donated by Friends in January of 2025: $50,000 which directly funds the library’s programming, and another $7,000 designated for staff development during the 2025 fiscal year.

In 2024, Friends proudly supported the John P. Holt Brentwood Library in the following ways:

• Volunteered over 4,700 hours

• Sorted over 150,000 donations

• Raised and donated $100,000+

  • $33,600 for programs & programming supplies

  • $10,000 for all staff development
    & conferences

  • $15,000 for the Charlie Cart -a cooking cart for library programming

  • $1,000 for a Sony Content Creators’ camera for the Library Marketing Coordinator

  • All summer reading performers and prizes

• Funded community outreach with programs such as Booktacular, Book Club Social, hot cocoa for Brighten Brentwood, Tiny Art Contest, & monthly Art Displays.
